A Japanese over-the-counter topical cream from Ikeda Mohando, sold for itching from insect bites and rashes. It contains diphenhydramine together with l-menthol and dl-camphor. Supplied in an 18 g tube.

Indications

Itching, insect bites, rashes from irritation (kabure), eczema, hives, heat rash, chilblains, dermatitis, weeping skin inflammation. Steroid-free cream.

Ingredients & form

Cream for external use (tube). 100 g contains:
- Diphenhydramine 1.0 g (relieves itching)
- Glycyrrhetinic acid 0.3 g (from licorice; reduces inflammation)
- l-Menthol 5.0 g (cooling, soothes itching)
- dl-Camphor 1.0 g (cooling, soothes itching)
- Isopropylmethylphenol 0.1 g (antiseptic)
Additives: polysorbate 60, sodium edetate, carboxyvinyl polymer, diisopropanolamine, paraben, octyldodecanol, 1,3-butylene glycol, stearyl alcohol.

Dosage

Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.
Precautions related to dosage:
(1) Children should use it only under the supervision of a guardian; as a guide, it can be used from 3 months of age.
(2) Keep away from the eyes. If it gets into the eyes, rinse at once with water or lukewarm water; if symptoms are severe (persistent redness or pain, watering that does not stop), see an eye doctor.
(3) For external use only; do not take internally.
How to use the tube: the opening is sealed with a thin metal film; turn the cap upside down and press its spike firmly onto the tip to pierce the film. Close the cap tightly after use.

Warnings

Consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller before use if you:
- are under a doctor's care;
- have ever had an allergic reaction (rash/redness, itching, irritation, etc.) to any medicine;
- have severe weeping or sores.
Stop use at once and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, bringing this leaflet, if after use the skin shows rash/redness, itching or swelling.
If symptoms do not improve after 5–6 days of use, stop use and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, bringing this leaflet.
Insect bites: do not scratch (it can worsen symptoms or leave marks; in children it may fester). If stung by a bee or wasp and breathing difficulty, general weakness or nausea appear, call an ambulance and see a doctor immediately.

Storage

(1) Store tightly closed in a cool place with little humidity, away from direct sunlight.
(2) Keep out of the reach of children.
(3) Do not transfer to another container (this may cause misuse or change the quality).
(4) Do not use after the expiry date (year and month on the case and the tube); once opened, use as soon as possible even within the expiry date.
