Description
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) works by blocking the influenza virus from leaving infected cells, helping reduce the spread of the virus inside your body.
It is prescribed for:
Treatment of Influenza A and B
Prevention of Influenza A and B after exposure
Note: Vaccination remains the primary and most effective prevention method. Tamiflu is not a substitute for the influenza vaccine.

Ingredients and dosage form
Pale yellow/light gray capsule (approx. 17.8 mm)

Dosing schedule/Directions
Your dosing schedule and method of administration must be determined by your doctor or healthcare provider. Always follow medical instructions precisely.
For Treatment (Adults & Children ≥37.5 kg)
1 capsule (75 mg) twice daily for 5 days

For Prevention
Adults: 1 capsule (75 mg) once daily for 7–10 days
Children ≥37.5 kg: 1 capsule (75 mg) once daily for 10 days
Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions exactly.

If You Miss a Dose
Take it as soon as you remember.
If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one.
Do not take two doses at the same time.

Overdose
If you accidentally take more than prescribed, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Do Not Stop Early
Finish the full prescribed course unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Some Tamiflu side effects can resemble flu symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, diarrhea), so do not stop the medication without medical advice.

Warnings
Before starting treatment, tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following apply to you:
You have ever had an allergic reaction to any medicine or food
You have kidney (renal) problems
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
You take any other medicines, supplements, or over-the-counter products
More than 48 hours have passed since your flu symptoms began (for treatment)
Some medicines can interact with Tamiflu and change its effectiveness.

Important Precautions
Influenza-Related Abnormal Behavior
Abnormal behavior has been reported in flu patients (with or without Tamiflu).
Examples include:
Sudden running
Wandering
Confusion or disorientation
Caregivers should take precautions to prevent accidents for at least 2 days after fever starts, especially in school-age boys and adolescents, who are reported to be at higher risk.

Even During Prevention Treatment you can still become infected. Continue standard preventive measures:
Wear a mask
Wash hands and gargle after returning home
Keep indoor air properly humidified

Possible Side Effects
Most common:
Diarrhea
Abdominal pain
Nausea
If these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor.

Serious but Rare Side Effects (Seek immediate medical attention)
Allergic reactions (shock, anaphylaxis)
Cold sweat, dizziness, pale skin, itchy throat, palpitations, breathing difficulty, hives, loss of consciousness
Pneumonia
Fever, cough, difficulty breathing
Severe liver problems (fulminant hepatitis, jaundice)
Unusual fatigue, yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, abdominal swelling, vomiting blood
Severe skin reactions (Stevens–Johnson syndrome, TEN)
Redness, blistering, sores on lips or eyes, peeling skin
Acute kidney injury
Low urine output, swelling, fatigue

Blood disorders
Leukopenia: high fever, chills, sore throat
Thrombocytopenia: nosebleeds, gum bleeding, easy bruising

Neuropsychiatric symptoms
Hallucinations, delirium, agitation, confusion, seizures, sudden abnormal behavior (running, wandering)
Hemorrhagic or ischemic colitis
Severe abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea

Storing Conditions
Keep out of reach of children
Store at room temperature 1–30°C, away from moisture and direct sunlight
Do not store leftover capsules—discard properly
