Papa Jelly 5 is a Japanese over-the-counter vitamin preparation from Ohki Pharmaceutical, supplied as chewable tablets in a can. It is a multivitamin product intended for children and for family use. The tablets are chewed rather than swallowed whole.

Indications

Nutritional supplementation in cases such as the growth period of infants and young children, picky eating in children, during and after illness, loss of appetite, nutritional disorders and febrile wasting diseases; nourishment and tonic; weak constitution.

Ingredients & form

Per 2 tablets (daily dose):
Vitamin A oil 4 mg
Vitamin D2 0.01 mg
Vitamin E acetate 5 mg
Vitamin B6 1 mg
Vitamin C 40 mg
Calcium pantothenate 6 mg
Additives: starch syrup, sucrose, agar, pectin, Red No. 106, flavouring, and 2 other ingredients.
Form: sweet, strawberry-flavoured chewable jelly tablets.

Dosage

Take the following amount at any time of day:
Adults (15 years and older): 2 tablets once a day.
Children (1 to 14 years): 1 tablet once a day.
Under 1 year: do not use.
Precautions related to dosage and administration:
(1) Do not give to infants under 1 year of age.
(2) Always chew before swallowing.
(3) Follow the specified dosage and administration.
(4) When giving to young children (1 to 6 years), take care that the tablet does not get stuck in the throat.
(5) When giving to children, do so under the guidance and supervision of a guardian.

Warnings

Do not (not following this may worsen current symptoms or make side effects or accidents more likely):
The following people must not take this product: do not give to infants under 1 year of age.
Consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller before use:
(1) People under a doctor's treatment.
(2) Women within the first 3 months of pregnancy, women who may be pregnant, or women who wish to become pregnant. (An increased rate of congenital abnormalities has been reported in babies born to women who took 10,000 IU or more of vitamin A per day between 3 months before pregnancy and the 3rd month of pregnancy.)
If the following symptoms appear after taking, they may be side effects: stop taking immediately and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, taking this leaflet with you:
Skin: rash, redness, itching.
Digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.
If symptoms do not improve after about 1 month of use, stop taking and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, taking this leaflet with you.

Storage

Avoid direct sunlight and store in a cool place with as little humidity as possible.
Keep out of the reach of children.
To avoid misuse and maintain quality, do not transfer to another container.
Do not take after the expiry date (printed on the carton or the bottom of the container).
As this is a jelly-type product, discolouration or cracks may occur depending on storage conditions; this does not affect the medicine itself, and it may be taken as it is.
