Description
This medication reduces blood sugar levels by suppressing sugar production in the liver and enhancing sugar utilization in the muscles. It is commonly prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes.

Dosing schedule/Directions
Your dosing schedule should be prescribed by your doctor or healthcare professional.
- Initial Dose: For adults, begin with 2 tablets (500 mg of the active ingredient) taken in 2 to 3 divided doses per day after meals.
- Maintenance Dose: Adjustments are based on treatment effectiveness, but the total daily dose should not exceed 3 tablets (750 mg).
- Follow Instructions: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage.
If You Miss a Dose: Skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
If You Take Too Much: If you accidentally exceed the prescribed dose, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Discontinuation: Do not stop taking this medication unless directed by your doctor.
Warnings
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist
• If you have: any history of lactic acidosis, renal dysfunction, hepatic dysfunction, cardiovascular disorder (shock, heart failure, myocardial infaction, pulmonary embolism, etc.), lung dysfunction, tendency of getting hypoxemia, intake exessive alcohol, dehydration, gastrointestinal disorder (diarrhea, vomiting, etc.), ketosis, diabetic coma or precoma stage, type 1 deibetes, infection, pre or post operation, injury, state of bad nutrition, state of starvation, state of debility, pituitary gland malfunction, adrenal gland dysfunction.
• If you are on dialysis.
• If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or possibly pregnant.
• If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
• Strictly follow diet and exercise therapy instructed by your doctor because of basics of the diabetes treatment. Note that state of dehydration due to drinking too much of alcohol, fever, diarrhea, vomitting, bad nutrition, etc. many cause lactic acidosis.
• The medicine may cause hypoglycemia symptoms. Pay attention when you work at heights, or drive a car.
Possible adverse reactions to this medicine
• The most commonly reported adverse reactions include diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, nausea, rash and itch. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
• gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), generalized fatigability, muscle pain, hyperpnea [lactic acidosis]
• sense of hunger, lassitude, cold sweating [hypoglycemia]
• gneralized fatigability, loss of appetite, yellowness in the skin or conjunctiva [hepatic dysfunction, jaundice]
• pain/stiffness/numbness in the muscles of the limbs, weakness in limbs [rhabdomyolysis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
Storing Conditions
Keep out the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder, do not store. Ask the pharmacy how to discard.
