A Japanese over-the-counter topical gel from Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's Attonon line, sold for the care of scar marks. Its active ingredient is heparinoid. Supplied in a 15 g tube.

Indications

Induration and tightness of the skin in scars left by wounds and burns (excluding the face); keratosis of the elbows, knees, heels and ankles; rough skin of the hands and fingers; chapped and cracked skin of the hands and feet; xeroderma (dry skin); dry skin in children; chilblains (excluding ulcerated ones); swelling, muscle pain and joint pain after bruises and sprains.

Ingredients & form

Active ingredients per 100 g: heparinoid 0.3 g; allantoin 0.2 g; dipotassium glycyrrhizinate 1 g.
Additives: hypromellose, carboxyvinyl polymer, propylene glycol, isopropanol, triisopropanolamine, fragrance.
Form: gel for external use.

Dosage

Rub an appropriate amount into the affected area 1 to several times a day, or spread it on gauze or similar and apply it to the area.
Precautions related to dosage and administration:
(1) Close the cap tightly after each use.
(2) When children use this product, they should do so under the guidance and supervision of a parent or guardian.
(3) Take care not to get it in the eyes. If it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with water or lukewarm water; if symptoms are severe, see an ophthalmologist.
(4) For external use only.

Warnings

Do not use:
1. The following persons must not use this product:
(1) People with haemorrhagic blood disorders (haemophilia, thrombocytopenia, purpura, etc.).
(2) People in whom even slight bleeding could be expected to have serious consequences (the product has an anticoagulant action and may promote bleeding).
2. Do not use on the following areas: the eyes or around the eyes; mucous membranes (e.g. mouth, nasal cavity, vagina).
Consult:
1. Consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller before use if you:
(1) are receiving treatment from a doctor;
(2) have had allergic symptoms from medicines etc.;
(3) have severely weeping or eroded skin.
2. If the following symptoms appear after use, they may be side effects: stop use immediately and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, taking this leaflet with you:
Skin: rash/redness, itching, swelling.
3. If symptoms do not improve after 5–6 days of use, stop use and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered seller, taking this leaflet with you.

Storage

(1) Store tightly closed in a cool place with low humidity, away from direct sunlight.
(2) Keep out of the reach of children.
(3) Do not transfer to another container (this may cause misuse or change the quality).
